"Proud breeder and promoter of the Friesian Sporthorse."
At River Oaks Farm, we have carefully selected a few quality Friesian Sporthorse and Warmblood mares for our own breeding program. We realize that a quality mare is as important as a quality stallion. Each of our special mares was chosen for their movement, conformation, temperament, and potential to produce quality sporthorse foals. We then carefully select Approved Warmblood and Friesian Sporthorse stallions, to ensure top quality foals. Our diligence in pairing quality mares with quality Approved stallions is one of the things which makes our breeding program stand out, and has made River Oaks Farm one of the most respected Friesian Sporthorse breeding programs in the country.
All of our foals are eligible for registration with the Friesian Sporthorse Association.
Koloa: 2003 Friesian Sporthorse mare, homozygous black, 16.1 hands, FSA, AWS, and PHR registered. She is by the same sire as our very successful Silver Elite Book Friesian Sporthorse stallion Charleston (2006 FSH Dressage Horse of the Year.) Koloa has been DNA tested and is a true black (homozygous).

Reference Mares (bred and/or sold by River Oaks Farm)
Kona: 2003 Friesian Sporthorse mare. 16 hands, homozygous black, registered with the FSA, AWS, and PHR. By the imported First Premium Friesian stallion "Pieter fan Lutke Peinjum", and out of a registered Percheron mare. Kona is a more baroque style Friesian Sporthorse, with a compact frame and a natural talent for collection, engagement, and "sit" in her gaits. She is by the same sire as our very successful Silver Elite Book Friesian Sporthorse stallion "Charleston", winner of numerous dressage awards, and the 2006 FSH Horse of the Year. Kona has been DNA tested and is homozygous black.
Kona has been bred to "Sempatico" for a 2009 pinto foal.
Update - Kona foaled a healthy pinto colt "Tempatico" May 8th, 2009, congratulations Audrey!
(Sempatico is an imported Approved pinto German Warmblood stallion, standing at Silverwood Farm.)
Natasha: 1995 KWPN Dutch Warmblood, 16.3, chestnut mare. Natasha was acquired by River Oaks Farm in 2009. She is a lovely Dutch mare -- the treasured "old style" Warmblood, with great bone and powerful gaits. She has a star-studded, proven sport pedigree. Natasha's sire was Jacobean, who was by the famous Dutch Preferent stallion Roemer. Roemer was a Grand Prix dressage horse and Grand Prix jumper, and stood at Iron Spring Farm until his death in 1996. Jacobean's dam was a Ster mare by Saluut, sire of famous jumpers including Saluut II. Natasha's dam was by Consul, another of the illustrious stallions of Iron Spring Farm. Consul competed thru Fourth Level dressage, as well as show jumping in the Netherlands. He was retired due to injury, but went on to more than prove himself as a sire. We are excited to add this quality mare to our lineup, and have partnered with Hanover Farm to breed her to our Elite Book Friesian Sporthorse stallion Lexington in 2009.
Natasha has checked in foal to Lexington, for a March 2010 Friesian Sporthorse foal!
(Lexington is a black Elite Book Friesian Sporthorse stallion, approved Friesian Sporthorse Association (FSA) and American Warmblood Society (AWS), see "Stallions" for more information.)
Miramar: 2004 Friesian Sporthorse, 15.3+ hands, pinto mare. Registered with the FSA, AWS, and the IGGR (International Georgian Grande Registry.) Miramar has no Paint, Quarter Horse, or stockhorse blood! She is by the imported First Premium Friesian stallion Pieter fan Lutke Pienjum, and out of a pinto Georgian Grande mare. Miramar has a sweet temperament, expressive gaits, and is a very flashy black and white pinto. Miramar is a wonderful example of what breeders are aiming for when breeding quality colored Friesian Sporthorses. She is by the same sire as our Silver Elite Book Friesian Sporthorse Charleston (2006 FSH Dressage Horse of the Year.)
Miramar foaled a lovely pinto Main Book Friesian Sporthorse filly on May 18th (by Lexington.) (Please visit "Horses for Sale".)
